Engineered attachment tilting solutions for mini excavator manufacturers, construction attachment suppliers and equipment distributors.
A 3.5-ton mini excavator is often required to complete grading, trench finishing, landscaping and utility work in areas where machine movement is restricted. With a conventional fixed attachment interface, the operator must frequently reposition the carrier to maintain the required working angle. This increases cycle time, ground disturbance and operator workload.
WEITAI hydraulic rotary actuators add controlled attachment tilting to compact excavators. The actuator converts hydraulic pressure into smooth rotary movement while supporting the working load and holding the selected angle. Its compact, integrated structure helps OEMs add greater attachment flexibility without a complex external linkage system.
For a typical 3.5-ton mini excavator, the WBV-115-180 is the closest standard match in the WEITAI range. WP and WT Series rotary actuators are also available for projects requiring different torque, installation dimensions or interface arrangements.
Recommended Model: WBV-115-180
The WBV-115-180 rotary actuator covers the published 2.3–4.2 ton excavator class, making it a practical starting point for a 3.5-ton machine. Its 180° movement range allows the attachment to approach slopes, trench sides and irregular surfaces from multiple angles while the carrier remains in a stable position.
| Parameter | WBV-115-180 |
| Recommended excavator class | 2.3–4.2 tons |
| Working pressure | 210 bar |
| Holding torque | 4,300 N·m |
| Displacement | 513 cc |
| Recommended flow | 5–10 L/min |
| Movement range | 180° |
| Product weight | 49 kg |
These parameters provide a preliminary selection reference. Final suitability must be confirmed against the actual attachment weight, centre of gravity, maximum working load, available pressure and flow, mounting dimensions and required duty cycle.
Operational Benefits
More Flexible Attachment Positioning
The 180° movement range enables controlled left and right tilting for grading, slope shaping and trench work. Operators can adjust the working angle hydraulically instead of manually changing the attachment position.
Less Carrier Repositioning
The actuator allows the attachment to work around obstacles and close to walls, roads or underground services. Reducing unnecessary carrier movement can shorten working cycles and limit disturbance to the surrounding surface.
Stable Angle Holding
With a published holding torque of 4,300 N·m, the WBV-115-180 is designed to maintain the selected working angle under load. Correct hydraulic protection and application matching are required to achieve reliable holding performance.
Compact Integrated Structure
The rotary actuator combines rotary movement, load support and position holding in one assembly. This reduces the need for external linkages, additional bearings and separate supporting structures, helping OEMs manage installation space on compact machines.
WBV, WP or WT: Selecting the Right Configuration
Excavator operating weight is only the first step in actuator selection. WEITAI offers three rotary actuator configurations to address different machine structures and attachment requirements.
| Series | Recommended Use | Selection Focus |
| WBV Series | Standard compact excavator tilting applications | Compact working width, low-maintenance structure and precise positioning |
| WP Series | Integrated PowerTilt and customized interface projects | Integrated hydraulic rotary union, hose routing and flexible mounting layouts |
| WT Series | Applications requiring different torque or structural dimensions | Holding torque, installation envelope and customized connection requirements |
The WBV-115-180 is the primary recommendation for a standard 3.5-ton platform. A WP Series or WT Series model may be selected when the project has different attachment loads, mounting dimensions, torque requirements or hydraulic interface conditions.
Typical Applications
The rotary actuator solution is intended for work where attachment angle has a direct effect on accuracy, cycle time or machine access. Typical applications include fine grading, trench shaping, slope finishing, landscaping, drainage construction, utility installation, foundation preparation and roadside maintenance.
In confined urban areas, the actuator helps the attachment work close to walls, curbs and existing structures without repeatedly moving the carrier. During trench work, hydraulic angle adjustment allows the operator to follow the required side profile and bottom level from a stable machine position. On landscaping and grading projects, controlled tilting supports more consistent surface finishing and reduces corrective passes.
The actuator does not replace correct carrier positioning or safe operating practice. Machine stability, rated lifting capacity and the combined weight of the actuator and attachment must always be considered. For applications with high impact loads or frequent reversing cycles, WEITAI should review the duty conditions before model confirmation.
Engineering Considerations for OEM Integration
A rotary actuator should not be selected by carrier tonnage alone. Before confirming the model, WEITAI reviews the following application information:
- · Excavator operating weight and stability limits
- · Attachment type, weight, width and centre of gravity
- · Maximum working load and expected operating frequency
- · Available hydraulic pressure and flow
- · Required movement angle and rotation speed
- · Linkage dimensions, pin sizes and mounting width
- · Hydraulic port position and hose-routing space
- · Clearance throughout the complete attachment movement
For the WBV-115-180, the published flow range is 5–10 L/min at a working pressure of 210 bar. Excessive flow may make movement difficult to control, while insufficient flow can reduce operating speed. Appropriate load-holding and pressure-protection arrangements must also be incorporated into the machine circuit.
OEM and Distributor Support
WEITAI supports new machine development, attachment integration and replacement projects. OEM and ODM services are available for mounting dimensions, hydraulic ports, output interfaces and rotation-angle requirements.
Project support can include application review, preliminary model selection, installation-envelope confirmation, interface customization, prototype supply and adjustment based on test feedback. For replacement projects, WEITAI can compare existing dimensions and operating parameters to evaluate compatibility.
To obtain an accurate recommendation, please provide the machine model, operating weight, attachment information, pressure, flow, required movement angle, installation drawing, prototype quantity and estimated annual demand.
